1. Trojan Storm	Faded to finish sixth last start at Hobart on a soft track when fresh but 3kg claim should help. Ran eighth at Ballarat when last second-up. Knockout hope.
2. Black Magic Woman	Last start winner at Hobart on a soft track and won all previous races as a favourite. Should run fitter for two previous outings. Commands respect.
3. Dixie's Boy	Resumes after spell of 25 weeks and won Longford trial convincingly. Returns to shorter trip. Well placed.
4. Geegees Rock Opera	Back after 23 week break and blinkers come off for the first time. Fitter for Devonport trial. Appears tested.
5. Rhyme Writer	Beaten by nine lengths last start at Launceston and won once this prep at Devonport three runs back. Outsider.
6. Lady Joker	First-up after 19 week break and trialled at Devonport. Generally strong first-up winning at Launceston last attempt. Hard to hold out.
7. Spihro	Let-up for 12 weeks and returns to shorter trip. Draws to do no work. Confident will go close.
8. Gee Gee Pureblonde	Back from 22 week spell and placed at last trial at this track. Placed at Devonport when last fresh and won one of eight first-up. Rough claims.
9. Schazem	Resumes after spell of 25 weeks and has the benefit of a Devonport trial. Needs a few starts to get warm. Hard to have.
10. Classicman	Resumes after a 13 week spell and gets the blinkers on for the first time. Down in distance. Not in this.
