2. Ballast	Finished in the middle of the pack last start at Inverell and has two placings from five runs this prep. seven from eight wins have been in the dry. Must respect.
3. Song One	Just missed at long odds last start at Gilgandra on a soft track and eight from nine wins have been in the dry. Carrying 4.5kg more than last time. Looks tested.
4. Paavo	Won once this prep at Tamworth seven runs back and faded to finish sixth last start at Coffs Harbour on a heavy track. All two wins have come in the dry. Serious player.
5. Hardyo	Finished strongly to end up midfield last start at Inverell and placed twice at Gunnedah but been unable to get a win. Has placed in two runs from nine this campaign. Expected to be a contender.
6. One of the Kind	Ran five lengths back from the winner last start at Inverell on a soft track but five of six wins have come from dry ground. Up in journey. Needs the breaks.
7. Kilmarnock	Won once this prep at Tamworth five runs back and returns to shorter trip. Large claim helps. Sneaky chance.
8. Malibu Stacy	Unsighted last start at Forbes and won once this prep at Dubbo six runs back. Has not won at Gunnedah previously. Seems unlikely.
9. Nodeel	Beaten easily last start at Coffs Harbour on a heavy track and down in distance. Drawn perfectly but still cannot entertain.
10. Penny's Bonitas	Amongst the placegetters last start running second at Forbes but carries an extra 4kg from last run. Has not won at Gunnedah previously. Unlikely.
11. Disenchanted	Ran fifth last start at Coffs Harbour on a heavy track and gets the blinkers back on. Down in distance. Place.
