1. Mugatoo | Has been kept fresh after hitting the line strongly to win the All-Star Mile at Moonee Valley last start. Import with a good record in Australia including a Cox Plate fourth in the Spring. Winning chance again from a good gate.
2. Avilius | Hasn't won since September 2019 but his two efforts this preparation have been terrific placing in the Chipping Norton and George Ryder. Right in the mix if you can ignore the lack of a recent win.
3. Samadoubt | Improved considerably at his second run back from over a year away from the races when less than three lengths from the winner in the George Ryder last start. Will be right ion the speed and just about ready to do something.
4. Star of the Seas | Won the Blamey three back but has been a touch disappointing in the All-Star Mile and George Ryder last two. Gets a nice weight drop and no surprise to see him in the finish.
5. Olmedo | Import resuming and his best Australian run in three starts was first up in the Kennedy Cantala over a mile at Flemington during the Spring. A longshot that can place at big odds.
6. Shout The Bar | Was beaten out of sight in the All-Star Mile after a placing at Flemington resuming last start. Won the Empire Rose in the Spring so capable of improving sharply but would need to.
7. Gem Song | |
8. Zaaki | Import having first Australian start. Won a recent Randwick trial but overseas form looks short of what is needed here.
9. Aegon | Kiwi which had his colours lowered for the first time in the Randwick Guineas last start after an impressive Hobartville victory. Takes on the older horses but gets in with a light weight and is worth another chance.
10. Cascadian | Produced the quickest last 400m of the race when a length fourth in the George Ryder last start. 10 starts at Group I level without a win a query but can get home into the placings.
11. Dalasan | Would need to improve considerably on what we have seen last couple of preparations.
12. Think It Over | |
13. Funstar | Has been a touch disappointing in three runs this preparation. She's capable of improving sharply but would need to.
14. Best Of Days | Freshened up since going down narrowly in the Australian Cup last start. 52.5kg is the lightest weight he has carried since winning the Group I Kennedy Mile at Flemington. Knockout hope at big odds.
15. I Am Superman | |
16. Rock | Has produced solid sectionals in his two runs this preparation finishing third in the Ajax Stakes resuming and was only clear late when fourth in the Doncaster Prelude last week. Terrific chance peaking third up down in the weights.
17. Nettoyer | Last year's winner on heavy ground and suspect she would need those conditions to be a chance this year.
18. Yao Dash | Burst into contention with an impressive win in the Prelude last week at Rosehill. Makes his own luck on speed and will be in this for a long way.
19. Mo'unga | Unlucky in the Randwick Guineas two back and made amends with a tough win in the Rosehill Guineas last start. That 200m grounding holds him in good stead and has to rate a winning chance with 49.5kg on his back.
20. Forbidden Love | Didn't have much luck in the Coolmore Classic last start after a comfortable win in the Surround Stakes. Only needs even luck in running to be in the finish with 49.5kg on her back.
21. Icebath | Produced race best sectionals when just over a length from the winner in the Emancipation Stakes last start. Drawn to advantage and worth including in the wider exotics if she gets a start.
22. Wheelhouse | Hasn't been far away in recent starts but would need to find something to be a genuine winning chance.
