AUSTRALIAN IDOL SYDNEY SINGER CARR EARLY IDOL FAVOURITE
Sportingbet Australia has Sydney rocker Wes Carr $3.50 favourite to take out Australian Idol Series 6 following Sunday night’s announcement of the Top 24.
Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said Carr had enjoyed a high profile in the preliminary shows and was sure to be well supported by punters.
“The Idol producers showcased Wes Carr and we liked what we saw,” said Sullivan.
“We’re sure that he’ll be very popular with punters.”
Sullivan said while the likes of Carr, New Zealand import Madam Parker and London auditionee Sophie Paterson were all well fancied in early betting, punters could find some value at this stage of the competition.
“Damien Leith was at odds of $51.00 at this time two years ago,” Sullivan said.
“So the winner doesn’t always come from the early favourites.”
Meanwhile, Carr is at short odds of $1.10 to advance to the Top 12 in Monday night’s semi -final.
“We have Carr as favourite to win the competition so we have to treat him getting through tomorrow night as a certainty,” said Sullivan.
“The real interest is in who will join him and we have Nicole Banks ($1.90) and Chrislyn Hamilton ($2.20) as the most likely.”
