Didntcostalot to maintain his winning ways
SYDNEY, Feb 3 AAP – Punters have singled out unbeaten sprinter Didntcostalot at Warwick Farm on Saturday in a race jockey Jeff Penza believes can be the launching pad to a successful autumn campaign.
The Marc Conners-trained Didntcostalot has firmed from $3.80 to $2.70 with TAB Sportsbet for his return in the 1100m race sponsored by his trainer as he looks to stretch the unbeaten start to his career to four races.
Penza rode Didntcostalot in his first two outings and is confident the colt can continue to rise to the occasion in his return from a spell.
“Obviously we’re hoping for big things,” Penza said.
“It’s one step at a time but he’s come back off the break and trialled nicely a couple of weeks ago.
“He was controllable in front and his work since has been good.
“We’ll get through Saturday first but hopefully he comes out on top there.”
Saturday’s field includes stakes-performed gallopers Aeronautical, Detours and Aerobatics as well as debut winner Velrosso from the Chris Waller stable which provides Didntcostalot with the biggest test of his short career.
But from a good barrier draw (gate two) and with an 1100m track record at Wyong under his belt on debut, Penza believes Didntcostalot is up for the challenge.
“I know it’s a good race but we still want to win it,” Penza said.
“If he can do that then they can pick out a nice race for him.
“Obviously you’re always looking for a nice horse to stay on and hopefully he can be the one for me.”
