New Hurricanes set for Super Rugby debut

Coach Mark Hammett has to make do without Piri Weepu, Ma’a Nonu, Aaron Cruden, Andrew Hore and Hosea Gear this season after the internationals opted to leave the franchise last year after an unsettled season.
The side have also lost international props Neemia Tialata and John Schwalger who are playing abroad, leaving Hammett with a squad boasting a host of new faces.
All Blacks centre and new Hurricanes captain Conrad Smith will miss the match but fellow World Cup-winner Victor Vito will start at No.8 while Cory Jane starts on the bench.
Hurricanes: Andre Taylor, Richard Buckman, Alapati Leiua, Jayden Hayward, Julian Savea, Daniel Kirkpatrick, Chris Eaton, Victor Vito, Jack Lam, Brad Shields, Jason Eaton, Jeremy Thrush, Ben May, Dane Coles, Tristan Moran. Res: Motu Matu’u, Reg Goodes, Jeffery Toomaga-Allen, Michael Bent, James Broadhurst, Mark Reddish, Scott Fuglistaller, Faifili Levave, TJ Perenara, Chris Smylie, Beauden Barrett, Cory Jane, Charlie Ngatai, James Marshall.
