LABOR $1.57 ON CENTREBET TO RETAIN POWER IN QLD!
Already nearly $40,000.00 was wagered with leading election bookmaker Centrebet on the head-to-head outcome of the Qld State Election before Anna Bligh called March 21 when the State’s voters go to the polls!
Centrebet media chief and political analyst Neil Evans said nearly 200 bets had arrived, with Ms Bligh’s ruling Labor government easing from an opening price of $1.36 from October 1 to its current quote of $1.57! The Liberal National Party has tightened up from an opening price of $3.00 nearly six months ago into a current quote of $2.35!
“This will be a competitive punting election, and I’m expecting the ‘hold’ to top the half-million-dollar mark, although despite the economic times and the loss of Qld’s Triple A credit rating, Labor is still a firm favourite, and so far commands about 60 per cent of all monies bet,” Evans said.
“Unlike the Northern Territory – which scraped home – and WA – which lost power – the ALP in Qld is in a more resolute and creditable state with voters, and Ms Bligh’s popularity has seemingly not been eaten away by the financial demons around her, especially the increase taxpayers face against the State’s borrowings. There’s no doubt Lib-Nat leader Lawrence Springborg will have to garnish some clever policy-making if he hopes to win office. Simply, sinking the boot into Ms Blight won’t be enough!”
Several punters have already wagered bets of between $2,000.00 and $5,000.00 on Labor to retain government, while the Liberal-National momentum surged a week out from last Christmas when two smart-rated election punters wagered $5,000.00 and $4,000.00 respectively on the Opposition at $2.75!
